BAC has released a
teaser video of the new Mono, which it will unveil at the Goodwood Festival of
Speed in July. Right behind the cockpit there’s a pod that is reportedly a
larger exterior air intake similar to what you’ll find on Formula 3 race cars.
This indicates that BAC has worked to increase the amount of air being funneled
into the engine, and that can only mean one thing: more power.
The current BAC
Mono is powered by a 2.5-liter four pumping out 301 hp at 8,000 rpm that’s
mated to a six-speed sequential transmission from Hewland. It remains to be
seen if the updated version will feature this same engine but with some added
grunt or instead, feature an all-new powertrain to create the fastest Mono
ever.
Earlier this year,
BAC delivered its 100th Mono to the Strojer Samlingen museum in Denmark, a
facility which houses other prized automobiles like Bugattis, Koenigseggs,
Ferraris, Lamborghinis, McLarens, and others. The 100th Mono is finished in
green carbon fiber with gold-painted accents.
