Ducati will launch the Multistrada 1260 Enduro in
India on 9 July. The company will use this model to replace the Multistrada
1200 Enduro. The Multistrada 1260 Enduro will compete with the likes of BMW R 1250
GS Adventure and the Triumph Tiger 1200 in the Indian market. Internationally,
the flagship Ducati adventure tourer is available in Ducati Red and Sand colour
options.
The Multistrada 1200 Enduro was Ducati's first
travel endure. It was based on the Italian brand’s Multistrada 1200. Similarly,
the Multistrada 1260 Enduro is based on the Multistrada 1260, which is already
on sale in our market. The Enduro badge brings an array of off-road-focused
features to the Multistrada family. It is said to be more user-friendly and
fun. The 1260 model carries a lower seat, handlebar and centre of gravity than
its predecessor.
The new adventure tourer will draw new lines on the
maps with the help of its 1262 cc, L-Twin cylinder, liquid cooled, 4-valves,
Dual Spark Ducati Testastretta DVT engine with Desmodromic Variable Timing that
churns out 158.3 BHP of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 128 Nm of maximum torque at
7,500 rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed transmission with Ducati Quick
Shift (DQS), which brings the convenience of clutchless up/down shifts to the
package.
The 19” front and 17” rear wheels' cross-spoke
design allows installation of tubeless tyres to the motorcycle. Ducati has
recalibrated the electronic semi-active Sachs suspension for the Multistrada
1260 Enduro. The engine is fed through a massive 30-litre tank to ensure a long
range between fuel stops. The motorcycle is claimed to deliver a range of 450
km per full tank.
The comprehensive electronics package on the
Multistrada 1260 Enduro includes Bosch Cornering ABS, Wheelie Control, Traction
Control and Vehicle Hold Control. The motorcycle features Cornering Lights and
a cruise control system as well. Like the Multistrada 1260, the Enduro model features gets 5" TFT
colour display that uses Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) to connect to a
smartphone via Bluetooth. Once connected, the rider can access functions like
incoming calls, text messaging and music through the switchgear.
The Ducati Link App for the smartphones enables
riders to personalise each Riding Mode (ABS, Ducati Traction Control, etc.).
The app also records performance and routes that can be shared with the fellow
riders. The Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro will most likely be available with
optional Touring, Sport, Urban and Enduro packages.
