The Honda City has
gained a safety upgrade without any changes in prices, says a new report from
autocarindia.com. Speed alert system and front passenger seat belt reminder have
been added to the car. The prices start at INR 9.72 lakh* and go up to INR
14.07 lakh*.
Honda City's new
speed alert feature, as the name suggests, alerts the driver by beeping once at
80 km/h and then follows with continuous beeps once the car touches 120 km/h.
In addition to this, the sedan now also comes with a front passenger seat belt
reminder which was absent earlier. These minor safety features are included in
all units which manufactured post 28 May 2019. They have been introduced to
make the car compliant with the new safety norms coming into action on 1 July
2019.
Dual SRS front
airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors were already standard in the
Honda City. The sedan is sold in SV, V, VX and ZX grades. The range-topping ZX
trim comes loaded with 6 airbags (Dual Front, Side & Curtain) and rear
parking camera as well.
The Honda City is
available with two engines. One is the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which
churns out 119 PS of maximum power at 6,600rpm and 145 Nm of peak
torque at 4,600 rpm. The engine is claimed to deliver a fuel economy of 17.4
km/l (5-speed MT)/18.0 km/l (CVT). The other engine option is the 1.5L i-DTEC
diesel engine which delivers 100 PS of power at 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of
torque at 1,750 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and returns a fuel
economy of 25.6 km/l in SV and V grades and 25.1 km/l in VX and ZX grades.
