Kia is all set to unveil the upcoming Seltos on the
20th this month. In a fresh development, the interior of the upcoming SUV has
been spied yet again, revealing more details. The latest set of spy shots show
that the Kia Seltos features a leather-wrapped steering wheel with chrome
finishes and buttons for multimedia, phone and cruise control. As announced at
the time of revealing the official sketches, it has a huge 10.25-inches
touchscreen infotainment system which sits above the elegantly designed central
air vents which are horizontally placed.
The new shots also show the format of the instrument
console which includes a large MID placed between the analogue rev counter and
speedometer. This MID is a colour screen and displays information like distance
to empty, avg fuel consumption, trip meter, outside temperature, gear indicator
and other settings. The reading on the MID shows that this specific unit has
covered 15,466 km under tests. The Kia Seltos is confirmed to feature a head-up display, multi-colour
mood lighting, all-black upholstery, twin rear AC vents and a Bose sound
system. All these cabin features combine to create a modern ambience in the
Hyundai Creta rival.
Under the hood, the Kia Seltos will derive its power
from either a 1.5L N/A petrol unit or a 1.5L turbocharged diesel unit. 6-speed
manual and 6-speed automatic will likely be the transmission choices. There is
also a 140PS 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine on the cards, which will be
launched in the later stage in a performance variant which will also feature a
7-speed DCT and paddle-shifters.
In India, the Seltos' manufacturing has been
allotted to Kia's new plant in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Expect an
introductory starting price of somewhere between INR 10-11 lakh (ex-showroom).
The sales will most likely begin in July this year. The premium B-SUV's
competitors will include the Nissan Kicks and the Tata Harrier as well.
