Ford will officially unveil a new version of the
modern-day GT supercar at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The model will
be presented on July 4, during the company’s press conference scheduled for
09:45 BST (4:45 am EST) and a teaser has just been released.
The dark image depicts the outline of a GT that
sports a giant rear wing and a roof scoop – which might be a one-off just for
the event, a new racing variant, or a limited-run road car. However, there’s no
official confirmation yet, so this is pure speculation.
The only thing the Blue Oval said about it was that
they “will make a special Ford GT supercar announcement during a dedicated
press conference”. Delivering the news and uncovering it will be Ford
Performance Global Director Hermann Salenbauch and Multimatic CTO Larry Holt.
For this year’s Goodwood Festival of speed, Ford has
prepped a lot surprises, including the local debuts of the new Focus ST, as
well as the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500, which uses a 760 hp and 847
Nm of torque, 5.2-liter, supercharged V8. Both cars will go on the hill climb,
alongside the GT Le Mans and NASCAR Fusion racers.
Making an appearance on Goodwood’s stage will be the
Fiesta WRC, Ken Block’s Hoonitruck and Escort RS Cosworth, Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s
Mustang RTR drift car and a 1980 Zakspeed Turbo Capri racer. Last, but definitely not least,
the Ranger Raptor will demonstrate its off-road capabilities during the event
that takes place on Lord March’s domain, in West Sussex, England, from July 4
to 7.
