Ji'nan Qingqi Suzuki has launched the Suzuki Gixxer
155 in China as the Suzuki Gixxer NK. The naked street bike carries a price tag
of CNY 12,480. The Sino-Japanese joint venture had introduced
the Suzuki Gixxer SF in the Chinese market last year. The fully-faired version
retails at CYN 13,057.
At the heart of the Suzuki Gixxer NK is a 154.9 cc
air-cooled, single cylinder mill. Coupled to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine
produces 14.14 PS of power (Indian variant is pegged at 14.8 PS) and 14 Nm of
torque. Interestingly, the Chinese government is all set to introduce a 10%
purchase tax on motorcycles and the Gixxer NK falls just outside the ambit of
this taxation policy.
Visually, the Suzuki Gixxer NK is nearly the same as
that of the model retailed in India. The only difference is the GSX150N
branding on the tank extension. Dimension-wise, the bike stands at 2,055 mm in
length, 800 mm in width and 1,050 mm in height. In comparison to the Indian
model, the bike on offer in China is 5 mm longer, 5 mm wider and 20 mm taller.
The kerb weight is the same - 136 kg.
In terms of features, the bike is equipped with an
LED taillamp, 41 mm right side down front forks and disc brakes at both ends.
The brake callipers, though, are painted in black; the Indian version gets a
golden paint. It also misses out on ABS. Another difference is a reverse
backlit all-digital instrumentation which is significantly better looking than
the orange hue the Gixxer flaunts back at home.
