Once it breaks cover, the 2020 BMW X6 M will wind
itself up to face the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe, the upcoming
Audi RS Q8, and of course the recently-unveiled Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe. We also don’t need to exhaust a
lot of energy trying to imagine what the all-new X6 will look like in M guise.
The folks at Kolesa did that for us, and judging by what we’ve already seen,
these digital drawings are pretty accurate – as in, there’s not a lot to get
wrong.
As an M product, the all-new X6’s already brawny
front fascia should boast this darker-looking kidney grille, to go with larger
air intakes featuring honeycomb mesh inserts. The X6 M will also get
sportier-looking mirror caps, larger wheels, high-performance brakes, two tailgate-mounted
spoilers and a quad-exhaust system.
We’ve actually already seen its rear end fully
undisguised and like we said, it’s pretty much identical to these renderings,
apart from the fact that in reality, the tailpipes aren’t positioned at the
exact same level – the exterior pipes don’t extend back as much as the interior
ones.
We also know what to expect performance-wise, since
power will be provided by a very familiar 4.4-liter twin turbocharged V8
engine, which in the current M5 produces 592 HP and 750 Nm of torque – figures that should carry over to both the X6 M and X5 M. Buyers
will also be able to opt for the X6 M Competition version, which should pack 625 PS.
As for its interior, we already saw the spy shots.
The X6 M will come with sports seats, carbon fiber trim above the air vents and
surrounding the center console, plus a leather cover for the gear lever,
featuring an embossed ‘M’ emblem and contrast stitching.
