The 2020 Hyundai ix25 has been spied yet again ahead
of its Chinese launch in August this year. It was officially unveiled at the
Auto Shanghai 2019 in April. Now with the generation change, the
ix25 has gone through an extreme design overhaul as per the requirements of the
Chinese market, but in the markets such as Brazil and India where this design
may not go down well, the next-gen Hyundai Creta will likely have a different,
more sedate looks.
After the lifecycle makeover, the Hyundai ix25 now
wears a very distinctive and aggressive design. At the front, it features a
more prominent radiator grille flanked by vertically stacked futuristic looking
two-tier LED headlamps. Its front fascia carries design inspiration from the
Hyundai's flagship SUV, the Palisade. This design looks quite appealing and the
company plans to rope in more younger buyers with it. At the rear, it features an
offbeat light design, with vertically stacked, split tail lamps seemingly
connected via a garnish strip.
The 2020 Hyundai ix25 will be available with a
1.4-litre turbo petrol engine and 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The former churns out 130 PS of maximum power and 211 Nm of peak torque, while
the latter delivers 125 PS of maximum power and 151 Nm of peak torque. While a
6-speed manual transmission could be standard, available options are said to
include 6-speed automatic and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic units.
