The Mazda3
SkyActiv-X hatchback will arrive in the United Kingdom in October with a
£ 23,555 starting price. The saloon will also make its local
debut this fall with the new mill and the 114 HP SkyActiv-D diesel.
The SkyActiv-X
versions are using a revolutionary 2.0-liter four-cylinder that features the
highest compression ratio for a production petrol engine in the world. It
produces 180 PS, can be paired to either a manual or an
automatic transmission and has a combined fuel economy of 52.3 mpg UK (5.4
lt/100 km / 43.5 mpg US).
For the first time
since the 323, Mazda is also offering four-wheel drive in a compact model. It
will be available solely in the five-door GT Sport Tech, while the Sport, Sport
Lux and GT Sport grades come with front-wheel drive.
The 2020 Mazda3
Sport SkyActiv-X gets rear privacy glass, a frameless rearview mirror and
chrome detailing. The Sport Lux sports keyless entry, heated front seats and a
reversing camera, while the GT Sport adds black leather seats with power
adjustment, heated steering wheel and Bose premium sound system. Finally, the
GT Sport Tech is packed with a suite of extra safety equipment, such as the
Driver Monitoring System and 360-degree cameras.
The GT Sport and GT
Sport Tech hatchback can also be ordered with the £ 200 Burgundy
leather option, whereas the saloon can be specified with Stone leather for the
same price. On the outside, every trim level of the Mazda3 SkyActiv-X, except
the Sport, is differentiated by the wider exhaust tailpipes and 18-inch alloy
wheels.
