Mercedes-AMG has just unveiled the new 2020 GLC 43
4Matic models, available in both standard and Coupe forms and expected to hit
the market later this year.
As the 2020 GLC 43 4Matic models are based around the facelifted GLC, they feature a number of new components
differentiating them from the previous GLC 43. The most obvious visual
alterations come in the form of overhauled headlights and taillights but all
things considered, these new models are really only subtly different than the
GLC 43 variants they replace.
Both the new GLC 43 4Matic and GLC 43 AMG 4Matic
Coupe use a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine offering up 385 hp and 520 Nm of torque. This power is sent to the pavement through a 9-speed
automatic transmission and a 4Matic all-wheel drive system, ensuring the duo
reach 96 km/h in a brisk 4.7 seconds. Both the standard and Coupe
models top out at limited top speeds of 250 km/h.
The all-wheel drive system features a front/rear
axle torque split of 31 to 69 per cent and those looking to buy the latest AMG
model will be pleased to learn that it comes with AMG Ride Control and Air Body
Control air suspension systems as standard. The first of these systems adjusts
damping at each wheel for the requirements at any given time to improve safety
and ride comfort. Drivers have the option of ‘Comfort’, ‘Sport’, and ‘Sport+’
settings for the suspension.
Inside, the 2020 GLC 43 4Matic models come standard with
leather sports seats with red topstitching. There are also a number of aluminum
trim elements found throughout the cabin. Other highlights include a
flat-bottomed steering wheel, galvanized shift paddles, and various steering
wheel buttons.
Customers also have the option of an AMG steering wheel. Like
most new Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG models, the company’s latest MBUX
infotainment system comes standard and can be operated through a touchpad,
Touch Control buttons on the steering wheel, through voice recognition or via
gesture control.
Mercedes-AMG has yet to state when the GLC 43 will
arrive in dealerships nor how much it will cost.
