A spy video uploaded by YouTube channel Power Stroke
PS shows the 2020 Renault Kwid undergoing road testing in India. The facelifted
model is still a few months away from being launched. The Renault Kwid was originally
introduced back in 2015, and it went on to become an instant hit thanks to its
distinctive SUV-inspired looks. But it has started showing its age and a
mid-cycle refresh is in the works to make it popular in the Indian market
again.
The 2020 Renault Kwid will boast numerous cosmetic
updates with design cues majorly borrowed off the Renault City K-ZE. The
facelifted model will feature a two-tier front light setup, new radiator
grille, restyled bumpers, new lower grille with multiple horizontal slats, new
wheel caps and tweaked tail lamps. What will also be new will be the use of LED
DRLs which make the A-segmenter more likeable, but this might not be a standard
feature.
On the inside, the cabin will likely more or less
remain the same. The only little tweaks expected include fresh trim and
upholstery, and also there may be a new MediaNav infotainment system and
instrument cluster. The 2020 Renault Kwid will likely be available with the 0.8- and 1.0-litre
SCe three-cylinder petrol engines from the old model. These engines churn out
54 PS/72 Nm and 68 PS/91 Nm respectively. However, they could have been
upgraded to BS-VI. Along with the engines, the 5-speed manual and 5-speed
automated manual transmissions will be carried over.
The old Renault Kwid is priced from INR 2.71 lakh*.
The new model could be priced from somewhere between INR 2.75-3.00 lakh*.
