Skoda has updated its Karoq and Kodiaq crossovers
for the 2020 model year by enhancing their equipment levels for added safety
and comfort. One important feature that both models now have is the Side Assist
option, which comes with a range of 70 meters and has more easily
noticeable light signals. Also new is the Skoda lettering on the tailgate,
instead of the traditional badge – like on the Scala, Kamiq and restyled Superb
models.
The optional Side Assist feature replaces the old
Blind Spot Detect system in both models, which only had a range of about 20
meters. The new system, which also has Rear Traffic Alert, uses two
radar sensors to detect vehicles that are either approaching from behind or are
already in the car’s blind spot. Meanwhile, the warning signals have been
removed from the mirror’s glass and placed on the inside of the wing mirrors.
Other novelties include the fact that you can now
combine Adaptive Chassis (DCC) with front-wheel drive, and the availability of
the optional KESSY vehicle entry system. Karoq buyers also benefit from a
new 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine with a power output of 190 PS and 320
Nm of torque, fulfilling the necessary Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard.
This unit can be fitted with all-wheel drive and a 7-speed DSG gearbox as
standard.
Last but not least is a new set of alloy wheels
available for the 2020 Kodiaq. They measure 20-inches in diameter, are wider,
and are available as an option for the Skoda Kodiaq Sportline as well as the
high-spec Kodiaq RS and Kodiaq L&K models.
