BMW has launched the X7 in India at INR 98.90 lakh.
The flagship SUV is available in two configurations in our market: xDrive40i
and xDrive30d DPE Signature. Both the configurations carry the same price. The BMW X7 features an upright
front-end featuring BMW Laserlight with Adaptive LED Headlights and a huge
single frame kidney grille which makes it look imposing. A hexagonal lower
grille sits below, while the housing of the sleek horizontally placed LED fog
lamps features silver-finished surrounds.
At the back, its flattish wrap around tail lamps are
connected by a chrome bar which looks very elegantly designed. Overall, the grandest
member of the BMW 'X' family carries a similar silhouette which quickly reminds
of the other models under the same range.
The xDrive40i model variant is powered by a
3.0-litre straight-six, turbo-petrol engine that puts out 340 PS and 450 Nm of
torque, while the xDrive30d comes with a 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-diesel
engine that produces 265 PS and 620Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic
transmission and an all-wheel drive system is standard.
Inside, the BMW X7 comes with BMW Live Cockpit
Professional comprising a 12.3-inch fully virtual instrument cluster and a
12.3-inch central display with Apple CarPlay and gesture control, five-zone
automatic climate control, park assist (autonomous parking), an electric
three-part panoramic glass roof and Panorama glass roof Sky Lounge. Panorama
glass roof Sky Lounge illuminates more than 15,000 graphic patterns which
embosses a starlit sky effect.
The biggest X-range SUV is 5,151 mm long, 2,000 mm
in wide, 1,805 mm in tall and has a wheelbase of 3,105 mm. It is available in
six- and seven-seating configurations and features a reclining function for all
three rows.
The BMW X7 xDrive30d is locally assembled, while the
BMW X7 xDrive40i is imported via the CBU route. Later this year, the BMW X7
M50d with a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder, quad-turbocharged diesel engine
(400 PS/760Nm) will be launched. The BMW X7 rivals the Mercedes GLS, Range
Rover and the Lexus LX in India.
