Engineering specialist HWA AG has become the latest
team to join Extreme E, an all-electric SUV off-road racing series whose
inaugural season will kick off in 2021. This decision will result in the
rekindling of an old rivalry between HWA and long-time DTM rival ABT
Sportsline, the latter having recently thrown their hat in the ring for Extreme
E too.
Currently, HWA is active in Formula E, but prior to
that it tallied a number of titles and race wins in DTM. The German firm is
also a major backer of customers in multiple top-tier GT and open-wheel series.
The extreme conditions referred to by Fritz will
come courtesy of the Himalayas, the Arctic, Amazon Rainforest, Sahara Desert
and an Indian Ocean Island – all of which have suffered at the hands of climate
change or human interference.
