Mahindra has
finally started offering Apple CarPlay support in the XUV500. Android Auto
support, on the other hand, was added two years back. Interestingly, Apple
CarPlay smartphone integration is offered in only the XUV500's top-end W11
variant. Mahindra already offers the Apple CarPlay in two of its products,
Marazzo and the XUV300. Until now, the Mahindra XUV500 has been the only SUV in
its segment without Apple CarPlay support.
The company hasn't announced
any price revisions. The W11 trim is priced from at INR 17.16-18.52 lakh
(ex-showroom, Delhi). With the help of Apple CarPlay, people with Apple
smartphones will be able to get their devices connected to the SUV to use the
features like hands-free telephony, Apple Music audiobooks, podcasts and
CarPlay supported third-party audio applications.
The Mahindra XUV500
draws power from a 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine
which is known to deliver 140 PS at 4,500 rpm and 320 Nm of torque
at 2,000-3,000 rpm. It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. There is
also an oil-burner option available in the form of a 2.2-litre mHawk
turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine which churns out 155 PS at
3750 rpm and 360 Nm of torque at 1,750-2,800 rpm. This engine comes mated to a
6-speed manual transmission.
