Merc’s passenger van has gained a battery-electric
powertrain and a new name: the eVito Tourer. However, you cannot buy one because it’s been launched for the BerlKonig ride-sharing
service in Berlin, as part of the ViaVan joint-venture that also operates in
Amsterdam, London and Milton Keynes.
Joining the eVito Panel Van, the new eVito Tourer is
powered by an electric motor that delivers 116 PS and 295 Nm of torque. It features a 41 kWh battery mounted in the underbody,
which offers a range of 156-186 km on a single charge, which
takes six hours to top up.
The new electric van will accommodate up to nine
occupants, can tailored to individual requirements by choosing from several
seating variants, and is available in two different lengths (5,140 mm and 5,370
mm). No matter what configuration is selected, the maximum
gross weight is 3,200 kg.
Aside from the two versions of the eVito,
Mercedes-Benz Vans will expand its portfolio with the eSprinter that will
launch later this year. Moreover, the production version of the Concept EQV,
which was shown in Geneva this spring, will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor
Show in September.
