The Renault Triber was in the news when it landed in Indonesia for GIIAS 2019,
and now, it has been officially displayed in the country ahead of the show.
What's interesting to note is that unlike the Indian-spec Triber, the
Indonesian-spec Triber will be offered with 14-inch alloy wheels and 15-inch
black alloy wheels.
Like hatchbacks in
India, MPVs are very popular in Indonesia and being a low-cost model, the
Renault Triber holds great potential for the country. ASEAN markets generally
tend to have sportier styling, with different alloy wheels and body kit. Hence
the option for the black alloy wheels in the MPV. The Indian-spec version will
be available with regular 15-inch alloy wheels.
The Renault Triber
is based on the CMF-A+ platform and is reminiscent of the Renault Kwid to a
certain extent. On the outside, it has a large V-shaped grille along with
projector headlamps design, horizontal LED DRLs in a black housing, sculpted
bonnet, sturdy front bumper, skid plates, roof rails and two-part Eagle beak
tail lamps.
Inside, it has the
same equipment list in the form of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with
Apple CarPlay (Android Auto not confirmed yet), start/stop button , passive
keyless entry, 3.5-inch MID and removable third-row seats. The Indonesian-spec
Triber also gets four-airbags.
In terms of
dimensions, the Renault Triber measures 3,990 mm long, 1,739 mm wide and 1,643
mm tall. Its overall length has been restricted to the 4-meter mark to save it
from the higher taxes levied on longer vehicles. Furthermore, it has a
wheelbase of 2,636 mm and a ground clearance of 182 mm. Renault boasts a
foldable/removable third-row of seats which makes it highly convenient by
offering huge luggage space. Speaking of which, it offers different luggage
space capacities: 625 litres in 7-seater condition, 320 litres in 6-seater
condition and 84 litres in 7-seater condition.
The Renault Kwid
will be offered with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol
engine that delivers 72 PS at 6,250 rpm and 96 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. The
engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed
automated manual transmission (unconfirmed for the Indonesian market).
