Piaggio recently launched the Vespa Urban Club
scooter in India at ₹ 73,733 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Urban Club, a 125 cc
scooter, is now the most affordable scooter in Vespa's line-up in India. A few
daws ago, Piaggio had also launched Aprilia Storm, the most affordable scooter
in Aprilia's range. Talking about the Urban Club, it will be sold through Vespa
and Aprilia dealerships across India, and will be available in four colours : Glossy Red, Maze Grey, Azzuro Provenza, and Glossy Yellow.
The new 125 cc scooter from the company features
styling that is characteristic of a Vespa product. The overall silhouette of
the scooter is a tad retro but gets modern design elements such as black
mirrors, black surrounds for the front apron, and a black insert on top of the
front mudguard.
It is powered by the 125 cc engine that also does
duty on other 125 cc Vespa scooters, including the ZX, SXL 125, and VXL 125.
This engine puts out 9.52 bhp and 9.9 Nm of torque. And as far as the Urban
Club's braking setup goes, it gets drum brakes with combined braking system,
missing out on disc brake.
At ₹ 73,733, the Vespa Urban Club does seem a little
low on features, especially when compared to Aprilia Storm, which offers same
features but at ₹ 65,000 (ex-showroom, India). Nonetheless, we think that with
its retro looks and famed Italian heritage, the Vespa Urban Club will find a
lot of takers.
