The 2019 Hyundai Elantra (facelift) has been
undergoing road testing in India for quite some time now. Recently, Twitter
user Anuj Gurwara spotted it in Hyderabad and he has shared its spy video on
Twitter. Like most facelifted Hyundais, the facelifted Hyundai Elantra has a
substantially updated design. The front and the rear fascias are entirely new,
and that too to such an extent that would make one think that it might be an
all-new model.
Starting off with the front-end, it features a
cascading grille which is complemented by a sharper bumper with more pronounced
outer ends. The turn indicators have been repositioned, and the earlier
projector-beam headlamps have been replaced with sleeker and sharper LED
headlamps. Also worth noticing is a redesigned hood with new crease lines.
Coming on to the sides, the 2019 Hyundai Elantra
rolls on new 15-, 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels. The Indian-spec facelifted model
will get the 16-inch alloy wheels as standard, just like the pre-facelift
model. Internationally, there's an option for 15-inch steel wheels with covers
as well. In symmetry with the front-end, the rear-end has received newly
designed combination lamps with sharper graphics, and the reverse lights have
been re-positioned to the bumper, which also sports a new design. The tailgate
design looks cleaner, as the license plate has been moved down to the bumper
and the 'Elantra' block lettering on it looks very elegant.
On the inside, the facelifted Hyundai Elantra
carries the Hyundai i30’s steering wheel, while the instrument panel, along
with housing are also updated. There are also new chrome-laden HVAC vent
grilles, and the elegance of the cabin has been further enhanced by a
redesigned climate control panel.
Speaking mechanically, the facelifted model will
likely be powered by BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel
engines which produce 152 PS and 128 PS respectively in their current, BS-IV
form. These engines are available in the facelifted model internationally as
well.
Expect the 2019 Hyundai Elantra to be priced from
around INR 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
