Even though the
refreshed Mitsubishi ASX was introduced in Europe in winter, it
won’t be available until this autumn. In contrast, its Japanese version – the
RVR – is already in stock.
In purely visual
terms, the new RVR is virtually identical to the new ASX, with similarities
going as far as Mitsubishi’s signature front fascia, new headlights, wheels and
rear apron. Inside, the RVR sports a different trim and a multimedia system
with a larger 8-inch display (previously 7-inch). Apple CarPlay, Android Auto
and satellite navigation are all supported.
Powering the
compact crossover SUV is a 1.8-liter, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder engine
good for 139 hp. The CVT transmission now offers a new sports drive
mode called M, which replaces the torque-oriented L. Customers can choose FWD
or AWD.
The RVR is
available to pre-order in Japan. Its European equivalent – the ASX – should
arrive this fall, as expected.
