The all-new SsangYong Korando has finally reached UK
shores following its world debut in Korea in February and its European premiere
at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The C-segment SUV offers a total
of seven variants in the UK, based on two engines, two gearboxes, and four trim
levels (ELX, Ventura, Pioneer, and Ultimate).
The base SsangYong Korando ELX starts at £ 19,995
(US$ 24,160) and comes equipped with 17-inch alloys with all-weather
tires, cruise control, DAB/RDS/Bluetooth radio, automatic lights and wipers,
woven cloth upholstery, six airbags, and more. The ELX is available in 2WD only
with the 163 PS 1.5 GDI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and
six-speed manual transmission.
The Korando Ventura offers the same engine and
transmission but adds amenities such as faux leather with fabric seat
upholstery, heated front seats, 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels with standard
tires, front and rear parking sensors, electronic parking brake, 10.25-inch
full LCD cluster, 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and more.
The Ventura trim level starts at £ 22,995 (US$ 27,760).
Customers who want a 4WD Korando have to step up to
the Pioneer trim level, which comes equipped with a 136 PS 1.6-liter
diesel engine working alongside a six-speed automatic transmission. The 4WD
system is optional and adds £ 2,000 to the trim level’s £ 26,495 (US$ 32,000)
starting price. Besides the powertrain, different features compared to the
Korando Pioneer include the 17-inch alloys with all-weather tires, heated
steering wheel, full-sized spare wheel, 3.5-inch LCD cluster, and rear view
camera, among other things.
Finally, the range-topping Korando Ultimate is
available in three variants: a petrol 2WD model with either manual or automatic
transmissions and a diesel 4WD model. Regardless of the powertrain, the Korando
Ultimate brings goodies such as soft leather seats with driver’s lumbar
support, dual-zone air conditioning, 9-inch touchscreen-based infotainment
system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, smart keyless start,
10.25-inch fully-digital cluster, and mood lighting.
On the outside, the Korando Ultimate can be
recognized thanks to the 19-inch alloys, rear privacy glass, LED multi-focus headlights,
and power tailgate. Prices for the Korando Ultimate range from £ 26,495
(US$ 32,000) for the 2WD petrol version with a manual gearbox to £ 31,995 (US$ 38,650)
for the 4WD diesel with an automatic transmission.
UK deliveries of the all-new SsangYong Korando start
in December 2019.
