Blackout packages continue to be popular, so Toyota
has introduced the new 2020 Corolla Nightshade Edition. Starting with the sedan, the
Nightshade variant is based on the Corolla SE CVT and starts at US$ 22,750 which
makes it US$ 700 more expensive than the standard model.
The package adds black badging, a black grille
surround and black mirrors with integrated turn signals. The model also has
black door handles, black rocker panels and a black spoiler. There’s also a
black diffuser, a black shark fin antenna and 18-inch wheels with a black finish.
The Corolla Hatchback Nightshade Edition is largely
identical, but it has headlights with a black inner frame. Furthermore, the
list of available colors includes Super White, Classic Silver Metallic and
Midnight Black Metallic which is slightly different than the sedan’s Super
White, Classic Silver Metallic and Black Sand Pearl. Pricing starts at US$ 22,290 which
makes it US$ 900 more expensive than the Corolla Hatchback SE CVT it is based on.
Besides announcing the new Nightshade Editions,
Toyota revealed a handful of updates for the 2020 Corolla Hatchback. Android
Auto compatibility is now standard, while SE and XSE variants gain a SiriusXM
All Access trial.
Customers who don’t want the full blackout
treatment, can order a newly available black roof. It will be offered on models
with a Blizzard Pearl, Oxide Bronze, Classic Silver Metallic, Smoked Paprika or
Blue Flame exterior.
Last but not least, the SE variant has a new option
which maximizes cargo space. It removes the spare tire and lowers the cargo
floor to create an additional 170 liters of luggage space.
The package also includes a tire repair kit.
