Volkswagen is
making the Arteon more affordable in the UK with the introduction of a new
value-focused SE trim in addition to the existing Elegance and R-Line
specifications. Expanding the Arteon lineup to three trim levels, the new base
model starts at £ 33,085 (US$ 40,300). For the money, customers get a
decent amount of standard features.
Those include as
18-inch Almere alloys, full-LED lights, adaptive cruise control with Front
Assist, Discover Navigation system with 8-inch touchscreen display, two USB
ports, three-zone climate control system, as well as front and rear parking
sensors. There’s also the Wireless App Connect system which allows for the use
of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto without needing to plug in a device.
For now, the Arteon
SE offers a single engine option, a 190 PS 2.0-liter TSI petrol unit
mated to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. In this
configuration, the Arteon SE returns a WLTP-confirmed 44.1 mpg (6.4 l/100 km) on
a combined cycle, and CO2 emissions of 144 g/km.
Later this year,
Volkswagen UK will also introduce a 150 PS 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine
that is expected to lower the Arteon’s price even further. The diesel engine
will be available with a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG
transmissions. Customers can place orders for the Arteon SE starting this week.
In addition to the
new entry-level model, the Arteon lineup gets more updates for the 2020MY
including the addition of the new Discover Navigation Pro Modular Infotainment
Matrix (MIB3) with 9.2-inch touchscreen from the facelifted Passat, and the
2.0-liter TDI 150 PS engine with Active Cylinder technology. Finally,
the revised model-year Arteon brings small revisions in CO2 emissions for two
variants.
