The new Alpine A110S is getting ready to join the Pure and Legende versions in the UK with a starting price of £ 56,810. Order books will open on September 3, but the automaker is already accepting reservations.

The most agile version of the French mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sports car costs £ 6,000 and £ 9,900 respectively more than the lesser models. More importantly, though, It’s also £ 4,755 pricier than the slightly more powerful Porsche 718 Cayman T.

Choosing the A110S instead of its German rival will get you to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, compared to the 5.3 seconds of the Cayman T, or 4.7 seconds when fitted with the optional Sport Chrono Package. Flat out, the 1,114 kg weighing coupe will do 260 km/h, 14 km/h less than the Porsche.

Alpine’s sports coupe uses the same 1.8-liter, turbo-four as the lesser grades, which, in turn, is shared with the latest versions of the Renault Megane RS. The engine lays down 292 PS and 320 Nm of torque, 8 PS and 60 Nm of torque less than the 718 Cayman T, which also packs a four-banger, albeit with a slightly larger displacement.

Aside from boasting more power than the Pure and Legende, the A110S is equipped with high performance brakes, wider Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires and a revised suspension. The ESC has been recalibrated as well and the car sits 4 mm lower, yet Alpine claims these changes haven’t ruined the car’s ride.
