Aston Martin is celebrating the Valhalla’s North
American debut at The Quail by releasing the first video showing the hypercar
in action. Filmed at Silverstone, the clip shows the Valhalla and Valkyrie being
put through the paces by Aston Martin’s high performance test driver Chris
Goodwin. While the video is pretty short, the company called this particular
Valhalla a “dynamic concept” which “signals the next step on the journey
towards delivering the first of these exceptional hypercars.”
The two cars are closely related, but the Valhalla
is a tad more practical and comfortable than the Valkyrie. Among the
differences are LMP1-style doors that open forward and take a section of the
roof with them. Aston Martin says this helps to improve entry and egress as
well as make the Valhalla a bit more livable.
The model also has a more practical interior with a
wider center console and numerous storage compartments. The car’s digital
instrument cluster is also in a more traditional spot, rather than integrated
into the steering wheel like on the Valkyrie.
Aston Martin has been tight-lipped about
specifications, but the company has previously confirmed the Valhalla will have
a mid-mounted turbocharged V6 engine and a battery-electric hybrid system. It’s
believed the car will have all-wheel drive and a combined output of
approximately 1,000 hp. This could enable the model to
accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, before hitting a top
speed in excess of 354 km/h.
Production will be limited to 500 units and Aston
Martin says they’re in the process of handpicking the customers who can
purchase this “extraordinary machine.” If you’re not already on the list,
you’re probably out of luck as the company confirmed the program remains
“oversubscribed.”
