Monterey Car Week wrapped up on Sunday, but Automobili Pininfarina used to the event to showcase the new PURA Vision to a handful of VIPs. Billed as their “future vision for luxury electric cars,” the mysterious concept was “created to inspire prospective clients and showcase Automobili Pininfarina’s unique design philosophy.”

Little is known about the concept, but the company released a couple of heavily cropped photos which appear to show a scale model of the car. Details are hard to make out, but it appears the concept has a rakish windscreen that blends into a glass roof that continues all the way to back of the car. The glass roof appears to be broken up by a center-mounted support which protrudes a little bit. We can also see a spoiler that wraps around the rear of the car and is integrated into the bodywork.

That isn’t much to go on, but design director Luca Borgogno said the “PURA Vision blends design themes which Battista Pininfarina himself made famous in creating some of the most revered and beautiful sports cars in history. Yet it is absolutely an insight into our future; a luxury vehicle like no other and once again designed to deliver thrilling EV performance.” A public debut is slated for 2020 and it’s possible the model will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show. That remains unconfirmed, but the Battista debuted in Geneva earlier this year.

A lot of questions remain about the concept, but it’s possible the model previews the brand’s upcoming sedan. That remains unconfirmed, but Pininfarina did use Monterey Car Week to give prospective customers an “inspirational view of the aesthetics of a future pure-electric Luxury Utility Vehicle from the Italian marque.”

Previous reports have suggested the upcoming sedan and crossover could have a battery pack with a capacity between 100 and 125 kWh. It could enable the models to travel up to 600 km on a single charge. More importantly, they’re rumored to be significantly more affordable than the Battista as they could be priced between US$ 222,052 and US$ 444,104.
