Chinese electric two-wheeler brand Benling will
introduce a new scooter very soon, reports BikeDekho. The upcoming electric two-wheeler will pack
retro-styling and, with its matte black paint, it looks a near replica of the
Vespa Notte. The front fascia includes a handlebar-mounted spherical headlight,
apron mounted blinkers and a body-coloured fender. The round rearview mirrors
enhance its retro looks. The cockpit comprises a digital instrument console
that will benefit from GPS and IoT (internet of things) as optional extras.
There will also be a limp home mode type feature that will allow the rider to travel
15-20 km in case of a breakdown.
The storage solutions of the Benling Aura include a
front box (near the footboard), an underseat storage and a luggage rack at the
rear. The saddle looks spacious enough to accommodate two adults comfortably.
The pillion footrest setup is integrated into the footboard. The back of the
scooter includes a boxy shaped taillight, clear cover blinkers and a number
plate illuminator. The vehicle also features a couple of reflector at the back
that sits next to the rear number plate.
Hardware specifications include telescopic front
forks and twin-sided rear springs to perform the shock absorption duties.
Anchoring power comes from disc brakes on both wheels. The scooter rides on
12-inch alloy wheels that come shod in 90/90-18 section tubeless tyre.
The Aura uses a 2500W, 72V brushless electric motor
that is fed by a 72V/40Ah lithium-ion battery. The motor can propel the scooter
to a top speed of 60 km/h, while the battery pack offers a claimed range of 120
km. A wall-mounted socket can recharge the battery pack in three hours.
The source report claims that the Benling Aura will
benefit comply with FAME-II guidelines and benefit from the subsidy. The new
electric vehicle is likely to cost close to the INR 90,000 (ex-showroom). It will
be reportedly joined by another Benling vehicle by November this year. The
second product, christened ‘Believe’, is likely to carry a more competitive
price tag than the Aura.
