Buick’s upcoming
crossover has been just been revealed ahead of its official launch in China. As
you can see in these pictures posted by Car News China, the model features a
unique front fascia with split lighting units and a bold grille with horizontal
chrome accents that spawn nearly the full width of the vehicle.
Moving further
back, there’s plastic body cladding and a prominent character line, along with
a sculpted bodywork, a relatively flat roof and a blacked out D-pillar. The
rear follows in the footsteps of the US-spec Enclave, as the model has a
distinctively shaped rear window which sort of resembles a wide “W.” The
crossover also has a tailgate-mounted spoiler, dual exhausts and wraparound
taillights that are connected by a thin strip of chrome trim.
Overall, the model
measures 4981 mm long, 1953 mm wide and 1732 mm tall with a wheelbase that spans 2863 mm. This
makes the crossover approximately 209 mm shorter, 47
mm narrower and 48 mm lower than the US-spec Enclave.
Despite these
differences, the crossover will be called the Enclave as the larger US-spec
model isn’t offered in China. That could make things confusing as rumors have
suggested the crossover could be offered in the United States where it would
slot between the Envision and Enclave.
Regardless, the
Chinese variant is a five-seater powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four that
produces 230 hp. It will reportedly be connected to an
eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to an all-wheel drive
system. Detailed performance specs haven’t been announced, but it will
reportedly have a top speed of 210 km/h.
The Chinese-spec
Enclave is slated to be launched later this year, so we expect more info to
come out shortly.
