The Ferrari 488 Pista is one of those cars few people would think of modifying — not only because it doesn’t need tuning but also because its value stands to gain from being left in stock condition. After all, it’s got the most powerful eight-cylinder production engine in the history of Ferrari. Mind you, not all owners think like that and tuning firm Novitec targets them with the new Sports Package for the Italian stallion. As the name suggests, we’re dealing mostly with performance-enhancing modifications made to the twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine.

Via ECU tuning and high-performance exhaust systems made from stainless steel or F1-sourced Inconel, Novitec is able to boost the power plant to 802 PS at 7,950 rpm and 898 Nm of torque at 3,100 rpm. Those are healthy gains of 82 PS and 128 Nm.

As a result, the 488 Pista is able to shoot from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 345 km/h, making it 0.15 seconds and 5 km/h quicker than the stock car. The numbers don’t tell the whole story, though. Novitec claims the modified 488 Pista provides an “even more instant throttle response and the even stronger pulling power on the road.”

In addition to the performance upgrades, the German tuner offers naked-carbon bodywork components including a front spoiler blade, tailor-made molding for the frunk, rocker panels, carbon mirror caps, carbon triangles for the rear side windows, rear spoiler lip, and carbon surrounds for the taillights. Most of these parts also serve an aerodynamic purpose, having undergone wind tunnel testing.

Other exterior tweaks include the smoked side indicators and reflectors, smoked LED third brake light, and the custom Novitec NF10 wheels developed in collaboration with U.S. specialist Vossen. Sporting a center-lock look, the rims are tailor-made for the 488 Pista and come in sizes of up to 9Jx21 inches at the front and 12Jx22 inches at the rear, shod with Pirelli P Zero high-performance tires sized 255/30 ZR21 and 335/25 ZR22, respectively.

Novitec also does suspension tuning on the 488 Pista by fitting a hydraulic suspension system that lowers the ride height by about 35 mm. The upgrade includes a front axle lift system that raises the nose of the car by 40 mm to help clear ramps, speed bumps, curbs, and other obstacles.

Finally, customers can spec exclusive interior design upgrades consisting of Alcantara and leather in any desired color or design.
