Ford’s new FX2
Package for the two-wheel drive versions of the Ranger has joined a long list
of accessories for the mid-size pickup truck in the United States. In exchange
for US$ 595, excluding taxes, the package can already be ordered at dealers, with
deliveries expected to commence at the end of the year, and promises to improve
the Ranger’s off-road abilities.
The FX2 Package
adds 17- or 18-inch wheels wrapped in chunky rubber, an electronic-locking rear
differential, off-road-tuned suspension and an off-road cluster screen inside,
where users can see the roll, pitch and yaw. The bundle of upgrades includes
air dam-delete and front underbody protection as well.
Ford is confident
that a great deal of 2WD Rangers will upgrade their trucks with the new FX2
Package. Aside from the FX2,
which is limited to the 2WD versions of the Ranger, two in every three buyers
chose to equip their pickup trucks with the Sport Appearance, Chrome Appearance
or STX Appearance packs. More than half went for the Trailer Tow and one third
opted for the FX4 Off-Road, which adds an electronic locking rear differential
and Terrain Management System with Trail Control.
Ford is offering
the 2019 Ranger in three grades, priced between US$ 24,300 and US$ 32,390.
