Maruti Suzuki has confirmed the upcoming XL6 MPV that will reportedly be launched on the 21st of this month. Also, the company has released its first teaser showing sketches of its design.

The sketch gives a glimpse of the Maruti XL6' exterior design and focuses on the front-end. However, the exterior design has been fully leaked in spy shots. Maruti Suzuki says that “the XL6 is bound to appeal to customers who are looking to buy a premium 3-row vehicle.”

The Maruti XL6 is basically a Maruti Ertiga-derived 6-seater MPV. It is a more premium product and will retail through the NEXA dealerships, not the Arena showrooms like the donor model. As seen in the teaser picture above, the XL6 will be more aggressive and rugged in looks compared to the Ertiga. It will carry a more imposing front-end with a larger hexagonal grille comprising twin chrome slats bridging in between the front LED DRLs. The headlamps will carry a sharper design, the front bumper will be chunkier and there will be a front faux skid plate for ruggedness.

Differences on the sides will be silver-finished roof rails, black cladding on the lower body and silver garnish on the rocker panels. At the back, it will feature a restyled bumper and a faux skid plate. The interior design will the same as that of the Maruti Ertiga.

Reports say that the Maruti XL6 will be made available in two grades, namely Alpha and Zeta. The latter will be the lower-spec grade, while the Alpha will be the higher grade. SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, individual captain seats for the second row, full LED headlamps and DRLs and all-black interior theme are said to be standard features. The higher grade will get additional features like a reverse camera, leather seats and cruise control, dual-tone exterior colour scheme and black alloy wheels.

Under the hood, the Maruti XL6 will have a BS-VI compliant K15 SMART HYBRID petrol engine which generates 104 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm at 4,400 rpm in the current BS-IV configuration. It will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Maruti will commence the pre-bookings some days prior to its 21 August 2019 launch.
