Mercedes-Benz Thailand has introduced the A-Class Sedan,
available initially as a CBU import. The sole variant brought in is the A 200
in AMG Dynamic spec, priced at 2.49 million baht. At 4,549 mm long, the A-Class
Sedan is 130 mm longer than the its W177 A-Class hatchback sister, although the
2,729 mm wheelbase remains. The booted variant’s cargo capacity is 420 litres,
50L more than the hatch.
Under the hood, the A 200 uses a 1.33 litre M282
turbo-four, developed in conjunction with Renault. It makes 163 hp and 250 Nm
of torque from 1,620 to 4,000 rpm. Paired to a new Getrag seven-speed wet
dual-clutch automatic, the 0-100 km/h sprint is done in 8.1 seconds on to a 230
km/h top speed. The A 250’s 2.0L turbo is good for 224 hp, 350 Nm, 0-100 km/h
in 6.3 seconds and 250 km/h max.
The A-Class Sedan stands alone in the Land of
Smiles, as the Audi A3 Sedan is not sold there and BMW’s 1 Series Sedan is
reserved for selected markets such as China and Mexico.
