The Proton X70 has been launched in Brunei, with
distribution of the SUV model handled by PAD Motors. This is
the first export market for the X70, and customers there will get to choose
from three variants. In terms of pricing, the base Standard 2WD goes for B$ 32,500
(RM 98,028), while the mid-tier Executive 2WD retails at B$ 36,000 (RM 108,585).
Meanwhile, the range-topping Premium 2WD is priced at B$ 39,000 (RM 117,634).
These prices include a five-year/unlimited mileage warranty, as well as five
times free labour service.
All X70 variants are powered by a 1.8 litre turbocharged and
direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine, which serves up 181 hp and 285 Nm
of torque. The mill is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that
sends drive to the front wheels.
The X70 in Brunei also gets the Geely Smart
Ecosystem (GKUI) Android-based infotainment system, which features an
eight-inch TFT LCD touchscreen, MirrorLink connectivity for Android smartphones
and voice command that responds to the activation term, “Hi Proton.” In terms of safety kit, all
variants come with six airbags, Isofix child seat anchors, ABS, EBD, brake
assist, auto brake hold, ESC, traction control, hill hold assist and hill
descent control.
The Executive and Premium variants add on an
around-view monitor, but it is the latter that gets a suite of Advanced Driver
Assist Systems (ADAS). These include Automatic Emergency Brake (AEB), Front
Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning
(LDW), Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Door Opening Warning System (DOW)
and Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC).
As for colour options, the X70 is offered with the
following paint finishes: Snow White, Jet Grey, Cinnamon Brown, Armour Silver
and Flame Red. With the X70 now introduced in Brunei, the next stop for the SUV is
likely Indonesia, as revealed by Rully Septiadi, head of marketing at Proton
Edar Indonesia (PEI), in a previous report. Other markets like Bahrain are said
to be under consideration as well.
