Royal Enfield has introduced the Stealth Black
Edition of the Classic 500 in the USA. The bike has been on sale in the Indian
market since September 2017. In the US, the Stealth Black Edition is priced at USD
5,799. That’s USD 200 more than the standard
version of Classic 500.
Cosmetically, the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Stealth
Black gets a matte black finish on the frame, fuel tank, engine casing, fenders
and side boxes. The engine casing and crankcase cover too gets a similar
treatment. The designers have also given the bike a matte black exhaust. The
bend pipe gets a heat-resistant coating. Besides that, the headlamp covering,
rear suspension, rims, spokes and rearview mirrors get matte black paint.
Royal Enfield believes that the Stealth Black
Edition is a celebration of the dark and spirit of shades of the night. A time
when a rider reminisces the day gone by as well as the next day which is yet to
unfold. The lack of chrome is pleasantly satisfying to look at! Powering the
bike is a 499 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected mill. Coupled to a
5-speed gearbox the engine can produce 27.5 PS of power and 41.3 Nm of torque.
At the front, the Stealth Black Royal Enfield Classic
500 is suspended upon 35 mm conventional telescopic fork that boasts 130 mm of
travel. The rear suspension includes twin gas-charged shock absorbers with
5-step adjustable preload and 80 mm of travel. The powerplant is a stressed
member of the single downtube. The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Stealth Black
Edition tips the scales at 196 kg and has a ground clearance of 135 mm. Its
fuel tank can carry 13.5-litres of petrol.
The braking setup includes the same 280 mm disc at
the front with 2-piston calliper and a 240 mm disc with a mono piston calliper
at the rear. The brakes are governed by a dual-channel ABS.
