Built as an homage to all things retro, this 1996
Rinspeed Yello Talbo is based on the design of the Talbot-Lago 150 SS by
‘Figoni & Falaschi’ of 1938. The car you see here has a Pastel Yellow
exterior and a blue leather interior, and is currently on display in Frankfurt.
The Yello Talbo made its world premiere back in 1996
at the Geneva Motor Show, which was only fitting since Rinspeed themselves are
a Swiss company.
The car features a for sale note by
Potomac Classics, asking potential buyers for € 125,000 (US$ 137,470). In return
for your money, you would get to ride around in something pretty unique, that
also happens to be reasonably quick, even by 2019 standards.
The Rinspeed Yello Talbo is powered by a 5.0-liter
supercharged V8 engine producing 320 HP. In a straight line, it can accelerate
to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds with the aid of an automatic gearbox,
roughly the same as a BMW Z4 sDrive30i.
It also comes with an Eibach suspension and 20-inch
BBS RS-II wheels. Unlike the car on which it is based, the Yello Talbo also has
some very interesting rear fender cut-outs.
Then there’s the blue leather interior, which is
drenched in “En Soie” fabrics. Other features include the Pioneer stereo system
and a “Crash” watch made from recycled aluminum that can be removed from the
center hub of the steering wheel and placed on the driver’s wrist – and vice
versa.
