The Ram 1500 lineup has entered the 2020 model year
with visual and technical enhancements that should keep it relevant in its
segment for the near future. One major novelty is the addition of the third-gen 3.0-liter
EcoDiesel V6, which makes the latest iteration of the truck the most powerful
oil-burner in class, with 260 HP and 651 Nm of torque and a towing capacity of 5,697 kg. The mill is available
as an option in the Rebel trim.
Arriving with black grille, badging, exhaust tips
and 20- or 22-inch wheels, with the former available on the Big Horn and the
latter on the Laramie, as well as dark bezel headlamps and taillights, is the
2020 Ram 1500 Night Edition.
The Black Appearance Group has made a return, with
even more darkened features that consist of a Diamond Black Crystal Pearl Coat
paint, black front spoiler, skid plate, towing hook, badging and 18-inch
wheels. The black bezels of the LED headlights are part of the offering, as is
the black interior, whereas the Black and Ruby Red look for the cockpit is
optional.
The Comfort Package has become a standard feature of
the Rebel, adding a 12-way power driver’s seat with memory function, heated
rear seats, wireless charging pad for compatible mobile devices and a power
tailgate. Selecting the Rebel Safety Group will bring you Adaptive Cruise
Control with Stop, Go and Hold, Lane Departure Warning-Plus, Forward Collision
Mitigation and automatic high beams, while Blind Spot Monitoring is an option
in the Tradesman.
Other changes include the addition of 22-inch,
two-tone wheels on the Longhorn and new exterior graphics for the Rebel. Also,
the eTorque badging is now featured on the hood. Additionally, three new colors
(Hydro Blue, Olive Green and RV Match Walnut Brown) will be added to the lineup
later on.
The Olive Green and Hydro Blue shades will become
available for the 2020 Ram Heavy Duty family, which also gets other gear. These
include Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Steering and tire pressure monitoring as an
option on all grades, as well as Blind Spot Monitoring with an easy-to-use
trailer coverage, auxiliary camera system that supports two different cameras,
a 50-gallon fuel tank offered as standard on Crew Cab models with 8-foot bed
and black wheels available on the Power Wagon.
