Volvo is currently accepting orders for the new XC40
T5 Twin Engine in the United Kingdom, where deliveries are set to commence in
February 2020. The Swedish premium compact SUV, which is the first to offer a PHEV
variant in the segment, is offered in four trim levels.
The R-Design kicks off at £ 40,905,
whereas the R-Design Pro and Inscription will set you back £ 42,305 and £ 41,255 and the
Inscription Pro range-topper costs £ 42,305.
The PHEV combines an 180 PS,
1.5-liter petrol engine with an 82 PS electric motor, for a
total system output of 262 PS, directed to the front wheels
via a 7-speed automatic transmission. Zero to 100 km/h takes 7.3
seconds and top speed stands at 204 km/h.
In this configuration, it returns 141.1 mpg UK (2
lt/100 km / 117.5 mpg US) on average and emits 38 g/km of CO2 in the WLTP test
cycle, when equipped with the 19-inch wheels. The 10.7 kWh lithium-ion battery,
which can be fast-charged in 2.5 hours, or between 3.5 and 6 hours using a
3-pin plug cable, gives it an all-electric range of up to 46 km.
The T5 Twin Engine is joining the three petrol and
two diesel units in the XC40 range, which will be completed next year by a
zero-emission version. Volvo enables customers interested in the plug-in hybrid
XC40 to configure it to their own specs by accessing the official configurator,
which is already available online.
