Last week, Alpina dropped a teaser depicting its new 2020 B3 Touring model, which is scheduled to land at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show next week. While the teaser image wasn’t particularly descriptive, it did reveal a slightly modified front fascia design, featuring a sporty new bumper and a chrome grille surround. But what’s better than a lone darkened teaser pic? A whole bunch of spy photographs, of course.

As you can see, this prototype is certainly not exempt of camouflage, with the German tuner attempting to hide the design of the lower bumper area, the badge on the hood and pretty much everything that’s going on at the rear.

Yet, the wheels are a dead giveaway as to what type of car this is – classic Alpina design. Also, the fact that the badge is hidden is very telling too. So despite the camouflage, we can already tell that this is one seriously sporty-looking wagon, and word has it that it definitely will not be short on power. The 2020 Alpina B3 Touring is expected to feature the same 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder unit that produces 382 HP in the US-spec M340i sedan, and 369 HP in European spec.

Since this is Alpina, the car will undoubtedly receive a twin-turbocharged setup that will raise those figures to well over 400 HP, possibly peaking as high as 450 horses. Add an 8-speed Steptronic gearbox and the automaker’s xDrive all-wheel drive system, and we can easily see the 2020 Alpina B3 Touring hitting 96 km/h from a standstill in under four seconds – the stock M340i xDrive sedan can already do it in 4.1 seconds.
