Audi unveiled its
updated 2019 R8 Coupe and Spyder models roughly a year ago, with a more
aggressive exterior design, new colors and, best of all, even better
performance. This particular model that’s on display at the automaker’s Neckarsulm
showroom is the entry-level R8 V10 Coupe, which means its 5.2-liter V10
produces 562 HP to go with 550 Nm of torque, an increase
of 29 HP and 10 Nm over its predecessor.
That much we
already knew a long time ago. What caught our attention is how it has been
specced. The exterior is finished in Frosted Glass Blue, which is an Audi
Exclusive paint scheme.
Since this is a. a
Audi, and b. a supercar, it’s anything but cheap. In the United States, for
example, choosing such a paint job for your R8 V10 will set you back around US$ 3,900, and that’s only because it’s not a matte color, otherwise it would have
been US$ 6,800.
In any case, this
light shade of blue does seem to work pretty well alongside the exterior’s glossy
black surfaces, such as the mirror casings, the Singleframe grille, front
splitter, badging, vent casings, diffuser and rear wing. It may not be the most
aggressive-looking R8 we’ve ever seen, but there’s definitely “something” about
it.
Then there’s the
interior, which may lack the R8 V10 Performance’s gritty Alcantara and carbon
fiber trim, yet still manages to stand out due to its dual-tone blue/white
configuration. Although it may not be to everyone’s taste, it’s definitely
distinctive – and that is a bonus, especially in a supercar.
