Baojun announced that its popular E200 electric
vehicle is officially available throughout China. The electric
range of the E200 has been upgraded to 250 kilometres under NEDC conditions. Two variants are priced at
RMB 54,800 (US$ 7,672) and RMB 64,800 (US$ 9,072). Those who place an order within 30
days can enjoy a special price of RMB 49,800 (US$ 6972) and RMB 59,800 (US$ 8,372).
The two-seater has an eye-catching exterior
characterised by slim headlamps and taillights. They give the E200 an agile and
dynamic look when on the road. The stylish interior has a “floating” open
instrument panel. It offers a light and lean feeling characteristic of Nordic
design.
With a length of 2,497 millimetres, width of 1,526
millimetres and height of 1,616 millimetres, the E200 is only half the size of
a regular passenger vehicle. This makes it highly efficient for daily commuting
in an urban environment. With a wheelbase of 1,600 millimetres, the E200’s
turning radius is only 3.8 metres. This makes it easy to park and make U-turns.
The E200 consists of 42.9% ultra-high-strength and
high-strength steel. The cab and battery pack are framed and caged for
effective protection. It has passed stringent vehicle crash tests – including
412 extreme tests for the lithium battery pack – to ensure safety, reliability
and durability.
The E200 comes with a warranty of eight years or
120,000 kilometres for its battery system. It can be conveniently charged using
a 220-volt household outlet. The Baojun E200 was launched in Liuzhou, Guangxi, in 2018. Sales were
expanded to additional selected cities earlier this year. More than 22,200
units had been sold as of the end of last month.
Baojun is a Chinese automobile marque owned by a
joint venture of General Motors and SAIC Motor, SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile.
