BMW has released special editions of the i3s and i8, which benefit from unique styling touches, and are available in limited quantities. First up, there’s the i8 Ultimate Sophisto Edition, which BMW says “will escort the world’s most successful plug-in hybrid sports car since its launch in 2014 onto the finishing straight.” The model serves as a final farewell for the i8, as production is set to come to an end in April 2020.

Available as a coupe or roadster, the i8 Ultimate Sophisto Edition features a Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect exterior finish that is complemented by E-Copper accents – the latter is also applied on the 20-inch BMW i radial-spoke light-alloy wheels.

Elsewhere, the car comes with clear-glass taillights and the Shadow Line package with the trim element on the C-pillars and tailgate inlay finished in high-gloss black. Similarly, the brake calipers also got the black finish, and have blue detailing and BMW i badging.

Inside, the door sill plates bear “Ultimate Sophisto Edition” lettering, while a “1 of 200” badging signifies the exclusivity of the model – only 200 units will be offered. Also present is an Accaro interior design in Black/E-Copper, head-up display, light package, Harman Kardon sound system and ceramic applications for the controls.

The second model being presented is the i3s Edition RoadStyle, which is limited to just 1,000 units. Like the special edition i8, the fully-electric model also features E-Copper accents on the exterior to contrast with a Fluid Black exterior paint finish, visible on the kidney grille, air deflectors in the front apron and side skirts. The model also gets 20-inch double-spoke BMW i light-alloy wheels in Jet Black.

The Suite interior gains additional detailing, and is coupled with Stellaric/Dalbergia Brown leather upholstery as well as an instrument panel in Dark Oak matte fine wood. Meanwhile, the front seats are adorned with “Edition RoadStyle” lettering on the headrests.

Mechanically, the special edition models are unchanged from a standard i3s and i8, with the former offering 181 hp and 270 Nm of torque, while the latter has 369 hp at its disposal.
