Last year, Tickford showed us a unique sports car
stylized to evoke associations with the iconic 1969 Ford Mustang BOSS 302
Trans-Am. The car went to Allan Moffat, famous Canadian-Australian racecar
driver who won four Australia Touring Car Championships piloting the original
vehicle. Now, the tuner has announced a whole series of such cars.
The series will be based on the 2018 Ford Mustang GT
and consist of just 100 cars; prices remain unknown. Customers will be able to
select between manual and automatic transmission. There will be two trim
versions: Performance and Performance Plus. Both will get the same red livery.
Each Ford Mustang GT Tickford
Trans-Am will boast a prominent rear wing, a new radiator grille, round DRLs,
and a classical logo at the front end, depicting a black mustang horse. The
Ford barge will go away, the mirror caps will be painted black, and the rear
end will gain stylish golden highlights.
The series will ship with 543 hp and 620 Nm of torque under the hood. The Performance Plus version will offer a
Roush-supercharged alternative with as much as 710 hp. Those who would
rather drive stick will have to make do with naturally aspirated and 511 hp though.
The Performance version will additionally get Bendix
brake discs, ceramic brake pads, and custom suspension (H&R or Eibach).
Performance Plus will take advantage of six-piston Wilwood brakes on the front
axle and 4-piston ones at the back.
Finally, the Performance Plus version has another
major advantage, doubling as a free pass to a number of shows and rides
organized by 79-year-old Allan Moffat.
