The online configurator for the 2020 Ford Mustang
Shelby GT500 is now available, and if the most powerful street-legal ‘Stang
ever built ever tickles your fancy, playing with it can be a nice way to spend
some time.
When users log on to the configurator, the first
thing they are presented with is a choice between 11 different colors. These
include Shadow Black, Grabber Lime, Oxford White, Velocity Blue (pictured),
Iconic Silver, Magnetic, Race Red, Ford Performance Blue, Kona Blue, plus the
optional Rapid Red and Twister Orange, that’ll set you back US$ 395 and US$ 495
respectively.
The Mustang GT500 can be optioned with vinyl stripes
down the sides in addition to the racing stripes running along the center of
the pony car. These stripes are available in vinyl for US$ 1,000, or can be
painted on for an exorbitant US$ 10,000.
In terms of packages, customers can select the
Carbon Fiber Track Pack that adds 20-inch carbon fiber wheels, Michelin Pilot
Cup Sport 2 tires, rear seat delete, adjustable strut top mounts, and a fixed
rear wing, for US$ 18,500. Other options include an exposed carbon fiber
instrument panel, memory driver’s seat, a B&O sound system with 12 speakers
and a subwoofer, and a voice-activated touchscreen navigation system with
SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link.
Prices go as high as US$ 107,080 for a GT500 with all
the available options, but the one we specced has a more palatable price tag of US$ 76,495. That’s very reasonable, when you consider it is powered by a 5.2-liter
supercharged V8 churning out 760 HP and 847 Nm of torque that’s
mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission from Tremec.
