Geely-owned London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) is present at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, in the ‘New Mobility World’ hall with a light commercial vehicle (LCV). A small panel van version of the London Taxi, it uses the same range-extender electric vehicle technology that marries a Volvo-sourced 1.5-liter petrol engine, acting a range-extender, to a rear-mounted electric motor powered by the 31 kWh battery pack.

When the ICE and electric motor come into play, they give the LCV a total driving range of 607 km, whereas with the battery fully charged, it can travel for more than 120 km in electric mode. According to its maker, the vehicle is aimed at distributors who do around 160 km per day.

Full details will be disclosed close to the official launch next year, but according to LEVC, the LCV will offer comfort similar to premium MPVs. It will also pack active safety systems from “world leading technology providers” and promises to achieve “the world’s highest crash safety standards”.
