After being showcased at Monterey Car Week in the
U.S. and at Lotus Day in Japan, the Lotus Evija’s tour continues, this time in
the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Celebrating the hypercar’s official debut in the Middle East, Lotus
has brought it at its Dubai retail outlet, which opened one year ago. The 465
sq-m store is capable of displaying up to 10 vehicles, and the Evija currently
holds the high ground.
Lotus CEO Phil Popham, who was present at the local
debut of the Evija alongside Design Director Russell Carr and Karl Hamer,
Adamas Motors (the brand’s retail partner in the UAE) CEO, said: “We believe
the Evija will really appeal to Gulf state customers, and we’re developing the
car with them – and particularly the local climate – in mind. Real-world
testing of prototypes is now underway to ensure optimum performance in every
market.”
The British hypercar will remain for a few days in
the region for those who want to see it in the flesh. During this time, it will
make an appearance at the company’s retailer in Abu Dhabi as well as a series
of private viewings.
Billed as “the world’s most powerful series
production car”, it has a matching price tag of £ 1.7 million in the UK. Power comes from four electric motors with a targeted
combined output of 2,000 PS and 1,700 Nm of
torque. The Evija should be capable of hitting the 100 km/h mark in
under 3 seconds from a standstill, and exceed 320 km/h, all the while
offering a 400-km range on a single charge.
