McLaren’s MSO Apex Collection is comprised of 15
Europe-bound special edition units of the 720S Coupe, showcasing five different
designs meant to celebrate nations associated with the automaker’s successes on
the race track. This connection is evident as soon as you step inside where you’ll
find MSO Bespoke extended side sills in carbon fiber, adorned with the apex
speed of the fastest corner from a specific country’s Grand Prix circuit.
First up is Apex Great Britain with four available
units (two RHD and two LHD). Its inscription reads 177 km/h,
referring to the apex speed of the Abbey corner at Silverstone. Next up is Apex
Germany (one RHD, two LHD), with an 136 km/h inscription referring to
the apex speed of the Mobil 1 kurve which leads into the old stadium section at
the Hockenheimring.
Apex France (one RHD, two LHD) features a 167 km/h inscription for the apex speed of the sweeping Signes curve at the
end of the Mistral Straight on Circuit Paul Ricard, while Apex Belgium (one
RHD, two LHD) reads 165 km/h, which is what you want to be doing
through the Eau Rouge section at Spa. Last but not least is Apex Italy
(one RHD, two LHD), which boasts a 145 km/h inscription referring to
the Ascari chicane that precedes Monza’s famous Parabolica section. Buying one of these cars means
you’ll also receive an FIA Formula 1 Paddock Pass and will even be able to
participate in the Pirelli Hot Laps experience as a passenger.
Visually, every single unit comes with the 720S
Track Pack. The spec itself is based on the 720S Performance, which means the
cars also feature hood air intakes, rear fender air intakes, carbon fiber door
mirror casings and ambient lighting for the engine bay. Then there are the
10-spoke forged alloy wheels, an MSO Defined gloss finish visual carbon fiber
active rear spoiler and a sports exhaust.
Inside the cabin, there are lightweight carbon fiber
Racing Seats, a titanium harness bar and the McLaren Telemetry system (MTT),
which is also part of the Track Pack. As for MSO options, there’s a whole bunch
of them: Extended Shift Paddles, bespoke steering wheel with 12 o’clock marker
in a dual color band Alcantara material or leather, MSO Bespoke throttle pedal
and key shell and more.
The McLaren 720S Coupe MSO Apex Collection is
currently on sale from £ 288,813 (US$ 356,857) at select European McLaren
retailers, with customer deliveries set to begin October.
