Renault is launching the new electric Zoe city car
in Europe, which received a major upgrade both externally and internally, in
order to regain the first spot in the region’s EV market from the Tesla Model
3. The revamped Renault Zoe now benefits from a more powerful electric motor,
which produces 133 HP and 245 Nm of torque, and a bigger
52kWh battery pack that stretches the driving range to an impressive 395 km on the WLTP cycle.
The new motor enables the Zoe to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 10 seconds and top out at 140 km/h.
Renault will continue to offer the 108 HP electric motor, which carries over
from the previous model.
The small electric car is also compatible with fast
charging, which means that 30 minutes plugged to a 50kW DC charger is enough
for a range of around 145 km. When using a 22kW public charger for 1
hour, the range is 126 km. Renault claims that a full charge from
empty using the 7kW Wallbox takes 9 hours and 25 minutes.
Another highlight of the new Renault Zoe is the
interior, which was upgraded with better-quality materials and a new dashboard
layout. The customisable digital instrument cluster measures 10 inches in
diameter while the new portrait-oriented infotainment system comes with Android
Auto, Apple CarPlay. There’s also a wireless charging pad for your smartphone
and two USB ports.
Renault’s latest electric car also comes packed with
the latest driver assistance technologies, including Lane Keep Assist,
Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Overspeed Prevention,
Blind Spot Warning, Recognition of Traffic Signals and the list goes on. The order books for the new
Renault Zoe are now open, with first deliveries expected to take place towards
the end of the year.
