While you may be aware that Iveco makes
some good trucks, vans and buses, a lesser known fact is that it produces an
extreme off-roader named the Daily 4×4.
A true truck that can be registered on a car driving
license, the latest 2019MY Daily 4×4 boasts good approach and departure angles,
small front and rear overhangs, good suspension tune for exploring Mother
Nature wherever you live, low-range transfer case and permanent all-wheel
drive.
Powering it is Iveco’s own 3.0-liter turbodiesel
engine, which at 134 kW and 430 Nm of torque,
paired to a six-speed manual transmission, is more than enough to help it pull
its own weight, and then some. The Daily 4×4 has a payload of up to 2.5 tons, and if you don’t dig the dual-cab body style, then you can also order it
as a single-cab.
This brings us to the biggest drawback there is:
pricing. At AUD 110,000 (US$ 74,350) before adding the massive 37-inch
all-terrain tires and other options required for extreme off-roading, the 2019
Daily 4×4 is one expensive piece of automotive kit.
As long as you do not compare it to ordinary SUVs,
that’s okay, because it has a lot to offer, from tons of storage spaces to
climate control, heated seats and even an infotainment system. However, there’s
another vehicle that you may want to check out before placing an order for the
Iveco, and that’s Mercedes-Benz’s die-hard Unimog, which is a true survivor in
every sense of the word.
