Hyundai dropped the Azera in the United States, but
it has lived on overseas where it is also known as the Grandeur. That brings us to today’s news as
Hyundai has released the first details about the facelifted model which adopts
a ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design similar to the one used on the Sonata.
While most facelifts are minor, the one for the
Grandeur is pretty extensive as the sedan features a new front fascia that is
far more distinctive than before. The most notable change is the grille which
has hidden lighting units. They’re integrated into the grille and appear
metallic when the engine is shut off.
The Grandeur has new taillights
that “stretch across the rear of the vehicle.” They also appear to have a
distinctive light bar that helps to emphasize the width of the vehicle. On the topic of dimensions, the
Grandeur grows 60 mm in length to measure 4,990 mm long. The wheelbase increases by 40 mm and Hyundai says this will
ensure the model has one of the most spacious interiors in its class.
The cabin isn’t just bigger, but far more luxurious.
The dashboard cribs from the Lexus LS and features metallic accents that
continue through the air vents. The interior is also more advanced as it can be
equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch
infotainment system.
Further below, there’s an all-new center console
that is leather-wrapped and features stylish metallic trim. The console also
has a new pass-through and a Shift-by-Wire controller that replaces the
traditional gearshift.
Hyundai didn’t mention performance specifications,
but the current Grandeur is offered with an assortment of engines including a
2.4-liter four-cylinder that produces 187 hp and 241 Nm of torque. Customers can also opt for a 3.0-liter V6 with 262 hp and a 3.3-liter V6 developing 286 hp.
