Lincoln recently organized the media drive event for
the all-new 2020 Corsair compact luxury SUV in and around San Francisco,
California. As is customary, the automaker dropped a massive photo gallery that
presents its latest model in great detail. Replacing the MKC, the 2020 Corsair
shares underpinnings with the all-new Ford Escape and that’s obvious when
looking at the engine lineup and the overall shape of the bodywork.
The Corsair is available with two turbocharged
four-cylinder powertrains. The standard choice is a 2.0-liter unit making 250
hp and 380 Nm)of torque, while a 2.3-liter rated at 295 HP
and 420 Nm of torque is optional. Both engines are mated as
standard to a new 8-speed automatic transmission and can be had with an AWD
system that has a disconnect capability.
Lincoln promises “an effortless yet nimble drive
experience” thanks to rear integral bush suspension said to deliver a smooth
ride by directly absorbing impacts that would otherwise be felt in the cabin.
The 2020 Corsair also offers five driving modes (Normal, Conserve, Excite,
Slippery and Deep Conditions) which allow the driver to customize the
experience behind the wheel.
Speaking of the cabin, Lincoln says the Corsair
offers more legroom in the second row than competitors like the Acura RDX and
Lexus NX, and even larger luxury SUVs, including the Tesla Model X. The sliding
second-row seats offer up to 6 inches (152 mm) of travel and a 60/40 fold-flat
or split-bench option. Practicality-enhancing features also include under-floor
storage and a package tray at the rear, as well as an available hands-free
tailgate.
The long list of optional features includes
Lincoln’s Perfect Position seats with 24-way adjustability, massage capability
and additional lumbar support for driver and front passenger, a specially tuned
14-speaker Revel premium audio system, and three new interior color
combinations: Beyond Blue (vivid blue and white), Cashew (tan and black), and
Medium Slate (gray and Ebony).
On the tech front, the 2020 Corsair comes standard
with the Lincoln Co-Pilot360 safety suite including Pre-Collision Assist with
Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection with Cross-Traffic Alert,
Lane-Keeping System, Rear View Camera and Auto High Beam Headlamps. A
Co-Pilot360 Plus upgrade is available, and so are features such as a Head-Up
Display, wireless charging, and Phone As A Key.
